Outputs

We developed two intellectual outputs in the project.

Intellectual Output 1 (IO1): Training materials for an introductory course for tutors in MSLS

Intellectual Output 2 (IO2): Handbook on good practices in MSLS

More details including materials for download can be found below.

1. Training materials for an introductory course for tutors in MSLS

The nature of the materials developed within this intellectual output is mainly digital. They include printable documents, videos, and interactive material.

The most important material is a guide “Tutor training and learning resources in Mathematics and Statistics Learning Support”. The guide is divided in two parts. The first part introduces training materials for tutors in MSLS services developed and updated in this intellectual output, as well as suggestions how these materials can be used for arranging a training event. The second part provides a brief guide on learning resources for students, from creating new resources to using and curating resources that are freely available.

Further materials include PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, interactive scenarios, fact sheets, training packages suggestions, guidelines for providing remote and online support via Discord, and video recordings with tips for new tutors.

2. Handbook on good practices in MSLS

The nature of the materials developed within this intellectual output is mainly digital. There are mostly documents that can be printed, but also websites and videos where project participants and guest speakers share their experience.

The most significant outcome is a comprehensive guide “Handbook of Good Practice in Providing Mathematics and Statistics Learning Support”. The handbook is structured into two parts, each offering valuable insights and experiences gained and collected throughout the project.
The first part, called “The Essence of Support Centres”, consists of six chapters that delve into key aspects of providing effective learning support. The six chapters deal with the concept of MSLS, setting up and operating the service, promotion, evaluation, and history of MSLS.
The second part of the handbook, called “Case Studies”, comprises individual case studies, illustrating concrete stories of mathematics support at five partner institutions. The stories represent a variety of approaches to MSLS based on particular needs of the partner universities.

Further materials include PowerPoint presentations that partners used to share experience, interviews, surveys, and questionnaires in both online and printable format to collect feedback from students, a video recording of a presentation and follow-up discussion, video recordings of sharing experience, promotional material like posters, leaflets, or bookmarks.
